Advice for applicants this recruitment season

Advokatfirman OEBERGS will soon begin our annual recruitment period for the positions as lawyer and associate, and would like to welcome all legal professionals to apply.

In order to make valuable skills, abilities and experiences stand out for the recruitment committee, this brief guide outlines what to pay particular attention to in the written application material.

Advice for the personal letter:

1. Gain a basic understanding of OEBERGS' business areas.
Visit OEBERGS' "About us"- and “News“-pages to get an idea of our operating areas and past activity. This gives you an overview of our business, which you can use to assess what branches and industries that are of interest to you.

2. Use OEBERGS' advertisement as a template for your application.
The listing specifies the requested qualities and experiences, and describes the assignments for each role. State in your letter how your particular qualities and experiences will be advantageous to perform the requested assignments.

3. Tailor the letter to OEBERGS' focus areas.
Advokatfirman OEBERGS is involved with specific sectors, namely energy, telecom and infrastructure. If possible, focus on your letter on your engagement and interest in these areas.

4. Show your ability to write professionally.
The personal letter gives you an opportunity to show your ability to communicate effectively in the legal field. Write your letter with the tone, style and layout that you would use in conversations in the role as lawyer or associate.

The personal letter can be written in either Swedish or English. The application committee gives no preference for one language over another other.

Advice for the CV:

1. Narrow your CV to experiences that have relevance for the requested role.

2. Elaborate on your higher education.
Specify your thesis, involvement in associations, and awards or grants, is applicable.

3. Briefly describe your experiences.
Give a short overview of what you have been assigned to do in each of your previous professonal roles, as well as special achievements.

4. Highlight language skills.
OEBERGS works together with international partners and clients on projects in Sweden and abroad . Therefore, be sure to highlight your language skills, if possible according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
